Sunshine Out of School Care Program
We offer two classes for children attending kindergarten to grade 5. Our licensed capacity is 24 children and 12 children in these programs, known as the Seaturtles and Seadragons.
Within our Out of school care programs we put an emphasis on relaxing and having fun with our friends in a safe and friendly environment. This is achieved through offering a variety of free choice activities to the children. We currently have 3 staff members who provide a range of activities from complicated art to playing a game of hockey, baseball, or soccer with the kids, to offering free choice play inside and outside daily.
We offer service to Colwood, Sangster, and Wishart Elementary schools. On a typical school day, we leave our site in the morning by 8:15am sharp. We are also on site at the time of the after school bell ringing at each school for pickups.
Every day off of school we adventure out into the local community on our 24 passenger buses to enjoy the natural outdoor settings we are blessed with here on the island, as well as visiting local places of interest. Summers are spent swimming, exploring nature, playing with friends and participating in a variety of fun activities throughout the day.
At this stage, our bullying prevention program builds on the right for everyone to be included in the group. We have a no exclusion policy with the children, and assist them in talking through their issues with one another in a positive, safe environment. We also encourage the children to be a team and take care of each other and to offer help to others younger than themselves.
Our monthly fee from September- June includes all scheduled pro-days, and early dismissal days. Enrolled children have spaces available for use during spring break for an extra charge per day used. There are no extra costs for bussing. An extra fee of $20.00 per day applies for any additional unscheduled pro days, strike days, kindergarten orientation week, and any other unscheduled school closure days, and spring break days. We offer both full time and part time spaces.
It's important to call when your child does not need pick up from school, a fee of $5.00 will apply if a call is not made!
We spend needless time worrying and looking for your child without that call or text.
